About

The service center GCBN - German Crop BioGreenformatics Network - focuses on crops and provides both tailored plant-specific data and infrastructure to the plant research and crop breeding community. Three partners are joined together: Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research at Gatersleben (IPK, BIT, Uwe Scholz), Helmholtz Center Munich (HMGU, PGSB, Klaus Mayer) and Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ, IBG-2 Plant Sciences, Björn Usadel).

Services

The GCBN aims at accomplishing and providing crop plant-related bioinformatics services in the field of green bioinformatics. We will provide transparent access to germplasm data, improve gene and genome annotation and bridge genotypes with phenotypes. Together with the de.NBI coordination and the other de.NBI partners, we will organize user training workshops and consult users from plant sciences and breeding companies.

Developments

Developments We will offer access to various crop plant specific information systems and tools. All GCBN partners will improve the sustainability and increase the functionality of provided infrastructures and services. Continuously, we are evaluating the possibilities of tool installations at the different de.NBI service centers especially in the de.NBI Cloud. In case of positive results GCBN will try to implement the transfer.
