Butler is an open-source framework that facilitates large-scale scientific data analysis on the cloud by providing a comprehensive toolkit for virtual infrastructure management, workflow, and monitoring and error resolution. Butler ships with several pre-defined workflows for genomic data analysis such as genome alignment, and germline and somatic variant calling, and supports the definition of new workflows as well as execution of existing workflows described with the Common Workflow Language (CWL) and encapsulated in Docker containers.
