Researcher (PostDoc Cheminformatics) (m/f/d)

The Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry (IPB) is located on the Weinberg campus of the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany.

Germany is establishing a long-term national initiative for research data (NFDI) through funding a dynamic network of services for research data management. The IPB is co-applicant in the NFDI4Chem consortium that will support standards-conform acquisition, storage, analysis and publication of research data in many disciplines in Chemistry.

The Bioinformatics and Scientific Data research group at the IPB is seeking applications as

Researcher (PostDoc Cheminformatics) (m/f/d)

for five years.

Job description:
As a (chem-) informatician, you will be joining our research group Bioinformatics and Scientific Data. Apart from successful research on Computational Metabolomics, we as work package leads in NFDI4Chem take care that research data ("the gold of the 21st century") is collected, structured and published for efficient re-use. You will develop comprehensive universal workflows for processing mass spectrometry data from the instrument towards an electronic laboratory book and chemistry data repository.

You should have a degree in computer science, chemistry informatics, bioinformatics or a related discipline with very good knowledge of databases, working with and developing for chemistry software (e.g. RDKit, CDK, OpenBabel) in common programming languages (e.g. Java, Python, R, C++). Knowledge in mass spectrometry or chemistry is clearly an advantage.

Salary and social benefits are according to the German Public Service regulation (TV-L).
