Some more details: The junior group leader group is expected to establish a research group that develops innovative approaches for the analysis and integration of (primary) mass spectrometry data (proteomics, metabolomics) to overcome existing limitations e.g. in sensitivity, scalability, and robustness, and to use this to infer biological and clinically meaningful information. The group will be embedded in SMART-CARE, a Heidelberg-based research consortium funded by the the German Federal Ministry of Science and Education (BMBF), bringing together an expert team of clinicians, mass spectrometrists and bioinformaticians aiming to establish mass spectrometry-based approaches in systems medicine to understand tumor relapse. The Young Investigator Group will be based at the University Hospital and will closely interact with our partners at University Heidelberg, DKFZ and EMBL. The group is expected to strengthen our core mission to develop computational strategies using mass spectrometry data for patient care. To facilitate this, we offer funds for 5 years covering positions for a junior group leader, a postdoc, 2 PhD students, and a technical assistant.
