Researcher (PostDoc Data Science Chemistry) (m/f/d)

The Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry (IPB) is located on the Weinberg campus of the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany.

Germany is establishing a long-term national initiative for research data (NFDI) as a dynamic network of services for research data management. The IPB is co-applicant in the NFDI4Chem consortium that will support standards-conform acquisition, storage, analysis and publication of research data in many disciplines in Chemistry.

The Bioinformatics and Scientific Data research group at the IPB is seeking applications as

Researcher (PostDoc Data Science Chemistry) (m/f/d)

initially for two years.

Job description:
The NFDI4Chem consortium is developing standards for research data in chemistry and supporting software and infrastructure. As a data scientist, chemist or informatician, you will be joining our research group Bioinformatics and Scientific Data. As task area leads in NFDI4Chem we take care that research data ("the gold of the 21st century") is collected, structured and published for efficient re-use.

You will support researchers in the chemistry community to publish data with the best possible impact. This encompasses translation of data into (existing) standards, using ontologies and persistent identifiers (PID) and deposition in public research repositories. Your experience will be feed into the NFDI4Chem knowledgebase and teaching material. You will run training courses and webinars to show how the FAIRness of chemical research data can be improved.

You should have a degree in Chemistry, data science or computer science. You are able to anticipate future (re-)use of research data. Knowledge in data representation and modelling, mass spectrometry and analytical chemistry are clearly an advantage.

The position is initially limited for two years. Salary and social benefits are according to the German Public Service regulation (TV-L).
