The High Performance und Cloud Computing Group at the IT Center of the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen (ZDV) seeks to fill two project positions at the earliest possible date for

Scientific Staff (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter/innen (m/w/d; E 13 TV-L, 100%)

The University of Tübingen is a central partner along with the Technical University of Kaiserslautern, the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg and the Research Centre Jülich within the project DataPLANT - Data in PLANT Research (nfdi4plants.de) within the framework of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI). The position focuses on the handling of research data in fundamental plant research as well as its annotation, processing and visualization. The main goal is to design and establish solutions tailored to the research cycle in plant research. Data storing, processing and analysis services shall be accessible through the DataPLANT Hub which is able to handle the very large amount of data being processed in everyday research.

As part of the DataPLANT team you will be working on:
- Conception and implementation of the DataPLANT Hub
- Integration of heterogenous storage resources
- Integration of federated compute resources
- Authentication and authorization
- Metadata handling
- Implementation of user interfaces to DataPLANT services
- Close collaboration with the project partners and beyond
- Active support for the broad user community for bioinformatical and technical questions

We expect from you:
- A scientific higher education degree (master, diploma or comparable) in biology, bioinformatics, computer science or a related field
- Experience with modern data management in science using scientific software tools and/or corresponding programming skills (e.g. Python, Java, R)
- Experience with science gateways and their implementation
- Basics in scientific computing (HPC and cloud computing)
- Team oriented but self-reliant working habits
- Professional interaction with heterogenous user groups
- High motivation, flexibility and team spirit
- Very good written and spoken English skills
- Experience with multidisciplinary scientific working habits
