Application period from 17. December 2021 until 9. January 2022
Reference Number 52/12/21

The working group Bioinformatics and information technology researches and operates the database, storage, cloud computing and server infrastructures of the IPK and is involved in a large number of research projects in the field of plant genetic resources. The working group is a player in various national and international bioinformatics infrastructure and "Open and FAIR Data" initiatives.

As a partner in the BreedFides project, the working group will participate in the development of a federated data ecosystem to hold the data generated in plant breeding in a trustee environment. However, due to the different actors from science, infrastructure and industry, the potentially usable data are technically and judicially limited. The project aims at enabling transparency and governance over data access and thus creating a jointly usable data space for German breeding research, unlocking the potential of "artificial intelligence" for the plant sciences. To this end, a federated infrastructure based on a data register is being designed, implemented and operated under the coordination of a data trustee at the IPK in the Bioinformatics and Information Technology working group.

- Design and implementation of a central data register and its interfaces
- Design and implementation of a corresponding information system
