Prof. Dr. Jörn Walter, Dr. Gilles Gasparoni, Dr. Abdulrahman Salhab, Dr. Pascal Giehr, Nihit Aggarwal
Date:
March 2, 2023, and March 3, 2023
Location:
Online via Zoom/Teams from Genetics/Epigenetics department, Saarland University, Saarbrücken.
Contents:
- Lecture 1: Introduction to Epigenetics and DNA Methylation - Techniques for Measuring DNA Methylation (Sequencing to Reads)
- Lecture 2: Quality Control and Processing of DNA Methylation Data
- Lecture 3: Applications of DNA Methylation in Research
- Lecture 4: Emerging Technologies in DNA Methylation and Future Prospects in Research
Learning goals:
The lecture series will cover a wide range of topics related to DNA methylation and its role in epigenetics, including techniques for quantifying DNA methylation modifications, quality assessment and initial preprocessing of WGBS data, and the use of DNA methylation in understanding various biological processes. We will also discuss emerging technologies and methods in the field.
The goal of this lecture series is to provide participants with little or no prior knowledge of working with DNA methylation data the opportunity to fill in any knowledge gaps they may have and determine whether DNA methylation can be used in their own research.
