Service center: Bielefeld-Giessen Resource Center for Microbial Bioinformatics – BiGi

Researchers from universities in Giessen and Frankfurt and the Max-Planck-Institute for Heart- and Lung-Research in Bad Nauheim have paired up to build the Cardio Pulmonary Institute (CPI). This institute merges basic, clinical and translationally oriented researchers who aim to understand cardio-pulmonary diseases in order to evaluate new forms of treatment.
Within the Excellence Cluster Cardio Pulmonary Institute bioinformaticians for the Goesmann Lab are currently establishing a central platform for FAIR data management including reproducible and scalable automatic data analysis workflows for the investigation of Virus-host interactions. The de.NBI cloud will be used for rapidly processing large-scale data sets generated within the various research projects and we will utilize our Kubernetes infrastructure in the cloud to deploy and provide access to bioinformatics services and user-friendly software applications. These attempts become an important task, especially if huge amount of data is produced from scientists from all over the world as e.g. currently for the pandemic of SARS-CoV-2.
