Bioinformatics for Proteomics (BioInfra.Prot)

de.NBI Services offered by BioInfra.Prot de.NBI Training offered by BioInfra.Prot
About
The service center BioInfra.Prot is formed by groups at the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) and the Leibniz-Lungenzentrum Borstel, with associated partners at the University of Vienna, Austria. At the RUB these are the Bioinformatics research unit of the Medizinisches Proteom-Center (led by Martin Eisenacher) and the “Medical Bioinformatics” group (led by Julian Uszkoreit). The groups have deep and long-standing experience with tools, standards and analyses in the field of proteomics and provide a broad range of services to the German proteomics community. The partners in Borstel (Bioanalytics group, led by Dominik Schwudke) and Vienna (Institute for Analytical Chemistry, Robert Ahrends and Dominik Kopczynski) provide further expertise in tools, standards and analyses in the field of lipidomics.
Services
BioInfra.Prot provides consulting and analysis services regarding statistics, bioinformatics and machine learning for mass spectrometry-based proteomics. This includes the steps of peptide identification, protein inference, quantification and statistical analysis. For several of these steps BioInfra.Prot provides tools and databases. Some of these extend into the field of targeted proteomics and proteogenomics.
In the field of lipidomics, a variety of tools is offered through the LIFS web portal. This includes tools for preprocessing of the mass spectrometry data, interoperability, statistics and data visualization.
Developments
Proteomics and lipidomics tools and workflows, which are developed by the members of BioInfra.Prot, are maintained and further adapted to the requirements of the users. With our experience BioInfra.Prot also offers the implementation of customized workflow and software solutions for specific data analyses in the fields of proteomics and proteogenomics.
For the dissemination of the knowledge on bioinformatics for proteomics and lipidomics, tool trainings, bioinformatics and statistics courses as well as programming workshops are offered regularly.
