About

The "RNA Bioinformatics Center" (RBC) comprises all major RNA bioinformatics groups in Germany: University of Freiburg, University of Leipzig and Max Delbrück Center - Berlin. The center deals with RNA-related data from transcriptome analysis to RNA structure analysis, prediction of ncRNA targets, definition and classification of RNA transcripts, and the analysis of RNA-protein interactions. Additionally, we provide structure prediction of biomolecules using the Rosetta suite into the portfolio of the RBC, located at Leipzig University.

Partners

Partners of the RBC include the de.NBI-Epigenetics (de.NBI-epi) project. de.NPI-epi is driven by Altuna Akalin and Björn Grüning, from Berlin and Freiburg, respectively. Both have a strong focus on epigenetics research and maintain a variety of tools like deeptools, methylKit, genomation. Furthermore the Hoffman Group at the Leibniz Institute for Aging in Jena provides services for research data management.

Services

The RNA Bioinformatics Center supports RNA-focused research within the de.NBI network by offering both tools and training tailored to the need of RNA researchers Trainig is delivered through multiple formats, including group workshops, one-on-one consultations, and personalized mentorships. A core component of RBC's mission is the development and maintenance of the European Galaxy serve, designed for ease of access and use on the de.NBI Cloud.

RBC actively collaborates with other bioinformatics centers and participated in established open science inititatives, such as the ELIXIR Galaxy community, to ensure high infrastructure availability, user-freindly interfaces, and reproducible in-silico workflows. Expanding its scope beyond RNA, the RBC also provides expertise in biomolecular structure analysis, This includes hands-on training through tutorials and workshops, along with access to asiute of ROSETTA-based servers. These resources support a broad rande of applications, from preotein structure prediction and ligand docking to the predicteion of chemical shifts and the investigation of digenic disease potential.

To further support training efforts, the RBC offers Training Infrastructure as a Service (TIaaS). This service equips training events with the necessary computational resources, instructional staff, and training material. This service provides support to training events with computational power, teachers, and as needed. Read more about our related services

Developments

The center actively improves its portfolio of tools and services, and collects them in the RNA analysis workbench. Here, developed tools and workflows are shared with the public, to promote open science as well as self-training. All tools are available on the European Galaxy server (https://usegalaxy.eu), that is maintained by the RBC. Furthermore RBC is actively involved in developing the Rosettta suite, available at https://rosettacommons.org
